About The Apartment
The Apartment provides an inspiring and informative resource for interior design and for interior designers themselves. Both an online platform and an actual apartment space on Chapel Street in South Yarra, the Apartment is a destination for advice on interior design ideas and inspiration, to running an interior design business. As a continuation of established interior design practice Sisällä, the Apartment was founded out of a passion for creating beautiful and soulful spaces, learning and sharing.

What is the Apartment?
Thanks for stopping by! The Apartment is a continuation of our interior design practice Sisällä because as much as we love creating gorgeous homes for our clients, we also love talking about interior design. I hope you find inspiration on our Journal about interior design from current ideas we’re loving through to advice on how to find your perfect sofa.
The Apartment is also a space to hold our studio sessions where we share knowledge with other interior designers on how to upskill and elevate their business. We love to share the gorgeous unique pieces that we source for our interior design projects though our store and occasionally we hold events to meet up in real life. And in the process, we have built a fabulous network of like-minded designers and design appreciators.
Who is this for?
The Apartment is for design enthusiasts and interior design professionals. It’s for those wanting some ideas to create a more beautiful home filled with everyday moments to enjoy. We’re also here offering advice for interior design professionals. Whether you’ve been in the industry for over 20 years, or you’re beginning your career in design, there is always more to learn.
Why did we start the Apartment?
When we moved our business above a shop on Chapel Street Sisällä interior design was thriving. The obvious thing to do was to fill the space with desks and grow our interior design business but we wanted to try something new. I’m a big believer in education and I had taught interior design in the past. I found a passion for sharing knowledge around and I loved it. But I knew that there are a lot of things that we need to know in our industry but aren’t taught, and so the studio sessions were born.
I love reading and writing about design and I’m passionate about sharing the local furniture, artwork and ceramics that we use in our projects, alongside Danish designs. They all come together at the Apartment.
What is my background?
Interior design is all I ever set out to do since I realized it was a thing. I love it. Straight out of high school I completed the Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration at RMIT and I absolutely loved it. Yes, that was me sitting at the front of class! I went on to the Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design with honours at Swinburne so all up I’ve studied for six years with a few student placements at architectural practices thrown in.
Not only did I gain valuable technical skills but I met some talented people whilst working at some of Melbourne’s top architectural practices. I spent almost a year in London working in high-end residential interior design and absolutely loved every minute.
Sisällä began in 2012 quite organically and my first two projects were shortlisted for the Australian Interior Design Awards. In 2016 my husband Phil joined to business and we haven’t looked back!
What’s happening next at the Apartment?
We are totally guided by what you want – so feel free to offer suggestions! We have been keeping very busy with our SketchUp Sessions and you’ve told us that you want more, so stay tuned. We’ve also found that a lot of interstate designers come to our studio sessions, so we’ve organized a long weekend just for you guys.

Information will be recorded for proof of purchase(s) & delivery information. Sisällä may use Mailchimp email to communicate the latest news, events, competitions, sales & offers to our existing customers & to those who have subscribed to our newsletters.
Pricing information
Our prices are shown in AUD inclusive of GST.
Prices are subject to change effective immediately upon posting to our site or other form of notification.
Sisällä will ensure that all prices quoted on our site are accurate, errors may occur. If we discover an error in the price of any product you have ordered, we will inform you as soon as possible and give you the option of reconfirming the order at the correct price or cancelling it. If we are unable to contact you, the order will be treated as cancelled and if you have already paid for the product you will receive a full refund. We are under no obligation to sell the product to you at the incorrect (lower) price (even after we have sent you an order confirmation) if the pricing error is an obvious typographical or arithmetical inaccuracy and could have reasonably been recognised by you as such.
Product availability
Sisällä, Sisällä Apartment reserves the right to withdraw any products from our site at any time and/or remove or edit any materials or content on our site. Whilst we will make our best efforts to always process all the orders, there may be exceptional circumstances which mean that we may need to refuse to process an order after we have sent you an order confirmation, which we reserve the right to do at any time, at our sole discretion.
We will not be liable to you or any other third party by reason of our withdrawing any product from our site, whether it has been sold or not, removing or editing any materials or contents on our site or for refusing to process or accept an order after we have sent you the order confirmation.
Pre-orders & back orders
Please note that for pre-orders and back orders lead times are completely outside of our control and can vary greatly from our estimates. However, we do our best to give the most accurate indication of lead times we can, and in the event of a delay outside of the advised time we will keep you updated.
Shipping & collections from Sisällä Apartment
Sisällä Apartment will only ship within Australia. We dispatch to valid Australian residential or commercial addresses. Smaller items may be shipped to PO box addresses if provided on the order – this will be at our discretion.
Items deemed unsuitable to dispatch to PO box (due to weight, size or fragility), Sisällä Apartment will contact you to make alternative arrangements. We will not take responsibility for late or lost items if address provided is incomplete or inaccurate. Tracking IDs will be provided where applicable.
Items will ship between 2-7 workings days after purchase, for ‘in-stock’ orders.
Orders are dispatched from Metro Melbourne & delivery arrival times vary on location.
Pre-orders are subject to estimated lead times shown under the product description of the item & an additional 2-7 workings days for dispatch to our customers may apply.
‘Click & Collect’ option is available, please select this option at ‘checkout’. All items are paid in advance online before collection or delivery.
Sisällä Apartment will email or call to arrange suitable times for collection typically within 2 business days for both ‘in-stock’ items & products subject to lead times.
