Tips on how to land an interview
What to do and more importantly, what NOT to do. Don’t waste time blasting the same email to everyone, let me show you some great tips.
Navigate qualifications; degrees, diplomas, associate degrees, Cert IV
There is no perfect qualification because it depends on what you want to do when you graduate. Some qualifications open doors and some don’t. Do your research before you spend time and money on a course that isn’t going to give you the outcome you want.
You're not doing this alone, you're here with a like-minded group just trying to figure this out too.
We’re all in the same boat here. We all want to do great work in this fabulous industry. Join in!
WHAT: This is a live tutorial that happens inside The Design Society. Once inside you’ll see the event (note that you are only accessing this area of The Design Society, but if you want more, we can talk!) You have access to this for one month.
WHEN: We’re running two live sessions, this gives you access to both and also the recordings if you want to play back later.

When you join the Interior Design Pathways seminar, you also get access to the awesome community inside The Design Society for one month. Hope to see you on the other side!
Lauren Li, Founder of Sisällä Interior Design, The Design Society & The Apartment
Want to know what lights me up? Helping other women live a creative life, win great projects, get published and charge more for sharing their design talents with their clients.
I created The Design Society so that we can pass on knowledge. I’m your mentor if you want to learn from someone that has actually done it and still doing it. Because we never stop learning.
I’ve been around the block a few times. I have more than 20 years of experience as an interior designer working across the residential, retail, and commercial sectors. I’ve worked in leading architecture practices in Melbourne and London.
I’m fully qualified and hold a Bachelor of Design, Interior Design (Honors) from Swinburne, and a Diploma of Arts, Interior Design & Decoration from RMIT. I also hold the Training and Assessment Cert IV, which means that I am qualified to teach.
Sisalla is our family business. I design and my husband works as the CEO, CFO and procurement manager (we wear many hats). And yes, we are one of those weird couples that actually LOVES working together. We can’t believe how lucky we are to work on gorgeous projects for great clients in between school drop-offs and holding the baby.
Sisällä’s projects have been recognised by several awards programs, including the Australian Interior Design Awards, and as a five-time finalist of House & Garden's Top 50 Rooms. I’m published in Vogue Living, Belle, Real Living, Elle Decoration UK etc. I write the interior design column for The Design Files.
I can also add author as I’m releasing two books in 2023, which are published by Thames & Hudson.
Always one to share my passions in the hope that we can elevate the interior design industry and go GREAT work for our clients.
If you’re read this far, then THANK YOU!
